This is an illustration for a fanfic a friend of mine is doing with another person that started as an RP. It features Dr. Gregory House, MD, and Dr. James Wilson, MD, from the Fox TV show "House." And yes, Wilson does have a tail in the picture. The story they have going is slightly AU, where the normal story of the show is kept to with the exception of a sort of X-Men-esque flavor. Some people are born as 'powers' which are apparently comparable to Marvel's mutants. While 'powers' are rare, rarer still are those whose otherness is physically manifested... like Wilson's tail. This particular scene takes place after Dr. Wilson was talking with the parents of a child -- a power -- who'd just been born with a tail and the parents had decided to have it amputated so that 'he might have a better life.'

"They think they're fixing him... Even if they cut it off, it's not going to make him normal. His brain's designed for his tail. He's going to have phantom limb pain, and dreams about it, and he's going to know that someone did something to him. He's probably never going to learn what it was, but he's going to know. They're exchanging a few dollars on clothes and stares on the bus for a healthy mind."
